The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VA DEQ) routinely inspects the coal export terminals in Southeast Newport News and Lambert's Point as part of their air emissions permits and water discharge permits (NPDES). These inspections are scheduled and distinct from inspections in response the residents' complaints, which are archive separately.
